Xnet Viper - multi-radio multi-frequency mesh nodes - outdoor

Create instant wireless citywide networks - click here for the indoor version -

Built for citywide deployments, the Xnet Viper multi-radio outdoor mesh node offers several unique features that make it the best choice for large-scale mesh network solutions. The Xnet Viper node has been designed to be a modular mesh router. This means that it can handle 4 radios’ in a balanced mix of 2.4-2.6GHz, 3.4-3.6GHz, 4.9GHz, 5GHz and 900MHz bands. The modular design of the Xnet Viper node, which allows for a throughput of 20-40Mb/s depending on the distance, will be used to blend Wireless mesh and Mobile WiMAX technology’s into the seamless working Hopling Metro Topology solution.

Xnet Viper multi-radio mesh nodes explained
Hopling Technologies' HopWARE Mesh Architecture (HMA) is a “full mesh network” solution as opposed to the tree structure topology as found in other vendor’s products. The full mesh topology means every node has connection to every other node in the network and is capable of sending traffic to that node. This full mesh topology also spans the multiple radio solution, therefore the most flexible solution on the market today.

Apart from the enhanced software mesh router capabilities, each outdoor Xnet Viper mesh node also contains:

  • Configurable Layer 3 customer gateway, customers traffic can be controlled on a per session basis, with full control over up/down stream data rates and QoS parameters.

  • Call Home functionality, nodes can be deployed anywhere in the world and as long as they have a route to the Internet can be automatically configured from a central back-office.

  • Configurable Layer 2 firewall, preventing peer-to-peer traffic across the mesh network and spanning across multiple radios.

  • Multiple Gateway functionality, meaning the network space can be divided/shared between different network operators whereby every operator can have its own SSIDs, VLANs, Gateways, public and private IP addresses and back-office.

  • Automatic mesh configuration based on patented Hopling Discovery Protocol (HDP). One network operator can operate 65536 independent mesh networks in the same space.

  • HDP Visual (demo), on-board network monitoring tools that enables the network operator to get a visual view of its wireless network, HDP Visual also interfaces with a centralized back-office.

  • Remotely software upgradeable, taking over existing network operator’s settings after a software upgrade.

  • Remotely configurable through secure protocols.

  • Can be powered by all Power-over-Ethernet switches and power supplies, including legacy Cisco. No need to run 110V/220VAC to the roof.

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) inserter
The Xnet Viper multi-radio outdoor mesh nodes are equipped with an
enhanced power supply interoperable with the de-facto PoE standard and IEEE 802.3af industry-standard PoE devices. The Xnet Viper nodes are powered using a single standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable for both power and data. Read more about the Power-over-Ethernet IEEE 802.3af capabilities of Hopling Technologies products here...

HopWARE Console Interface
Also available as an option to customers is the HopWARE Console Interface, an ingenious device which allows for a direct connection between an Xnet Viper node and a laptop enabling full diagnostics. It makes on-site problem solving a lot easier. Simply tapping into the node will solve a problem without removing and de-installing the nodes.

Mesh Routing
The Xnet Viper multi-radio nodes use the HopWARE Mesh Architecture (HMA) for the creation of large-scale wireless citywide networks. As part of Hopling Technologies’ HopWARE Mesh Architecture, the patented Hopling Discovery Protocol, including HDP Visual, is specifically designed for massive wireless network environments. The protocol enables a remote node to automatically and dynamically select the best data path among other nodes within the mesh coverage area. This provides greater data resiliency to radio frequency interference and helps to ensure optimal mesh network capacity. As new nodes are added to expand the deployed network, each node dynamically adjusts data routing schemes for maximum efficiency.
The Xnet Viper nodes are also equipped with the Virtual Gateway allowing a mesh network solution to be segmented into multiple wireless networks.
