Xspot UMTS - gateway and access point with UMTS backhaul - indoor

Create 3G originated standard wireless access
The Xspot UMTS is a sophisticated mobile gateway and access point
that provides customers true mobile access to a public data network (PDN) or specified private IP networks. On a UMTS network a Xspot UMTS enables connection to the Internet at data speeds of up to 384Kbps.

By using the Xspot UMTS, customers can really access information anywhere anytime anyplace. The most important task of the Xspot UMTS is to take advantage of wirelessly enabled computers, notebooks, PDA's or mobile phones and provide them with wireless access by using a UMTS network. Wherever you are in the world, even in areas where UMTS services are not available, the Xspot UMTS provides always reliable and secure data connections via GPRS.

Indoor Xspot UMTS complete with antennas, an IEEE 802.11a/b/g card and  one or two UMTS cards. Also available in an outdoor version

The Xspot UMTS is an intelligent "bridge" between wireless Internet connectivity provided by combining UMTS (or GRPS) and an IEEE 802.11a/b/g gateway and access point equipped with a firewall, capable of handling port blacklist and port whitelist, and pushing content to a mobile customers based on location information.

The Xspot UMTS, a mobile end-to-end wireless solution, acts the same way as a Xspot Mark-I gateway and access point. The Xspot UMTS integrates packet and circuit data transmission with the benefits of virtual connectivity to the wireless device or wireless network at all times. The Xspot UMTS is also designed to offer data rate on demand which, in combination with packet data, will make operation of the system much cheaper.

The Xspot UMTS is a cost-effective complete mobile hotspot solution, offering Internet Service Providers a powerful way to capitalize on the combined benefits of UMTS network connectivity and wireless solutions. Hopling Technologies provides a single point of wireless broadband Internet access for convergence that helps Internet Service Providers, Telecommunication Operators and (Virtual) Mobile Operators leverage their skills and core competencies. The standards–based Xspot UMTS interoperates in today's multi–vendor environments, providing the necessary bandwidth for wireless customers friendly access and wireless connectivity as the wireless infrastructures evolves.

The Xspot UMTS is standard equipped with HDP Visual (demo), which displays a graphical representation of the wireless network including GPS mapping.

Power
The Xspot UMTS is powered
using an external power supply of 11-56V DC or by using a single standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable for both power and data. Read more about the Power-over-Ethernet IEEE 802.3af capabilities of Hopling Technologies products here...

3G explained
3G is the “generic” name for the 3rd generation mobile phone services and incorporates a whole set of different abbreviated (UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA) technologies.

These technologies belong to the 3G (third generation) mobile telephony communications protocol in the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) family, which allows networks based on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) to have higher data transfer speeds and capacity. Current HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of 1.8, 3.6, 7.2 and 14.4 Mbit/s.

UMTS and HSDPA can both be used in our Xspot systems to act as a connection to the mobile (cell) phone network to power a  Hotspot Solution.
