Almere,
September 10, 2007 - Hopling Technologies, a fast growing
technology leader in IP-based wireless networking equipment for
enterprises, operators and service providers today announced
that Kabel Noord has successfully implemented a wireless
seamless working network in the city of Dokkum, the most
northern city in the Netherlands.
The wireless network covers the downtown area and the central
part of the city of Dokkum including the harbor, and addresses
the nomadic Internet user. Especially the numerous tourists who
arrive per boat are targeted with the implemented network. Kabel
Noord already installed intelligent Hotspots at several
locations on the islands of Ameland and Schiermonnikoog using
wireless equipment from Hopling Technologies.
“Due to the fact that the network nodes are self-installing, we
could easily roll out the network and benefit from a steep
growth in usage of the network,” said Anne Fahner, Manager
Customer Services of Kabel Noord. “We were able to fully
outsource the back-office functions (i.e. network management,
access control and billing) to Hopling Services, which allows us
to concentrate on deploying a state-of-the-art wireless mesh
network without the need for any additional overhead in our
organization."
“The wireless network in Dokkum is based on Hopling
Technologies’ high-capacity mesh nodes with integrated wireless
access points,” said Aad van Diepen, Vice President Global
Services of Hopling Technologies. “The mesh nodes are wirelessly
interconnected using the HopWARE Mesh Architecture (HMA). The
patented Hopling Discovery Protocol (HDP) enables the network
nodes to automatically configure themselves for optimal
communication with neighboring network nodes.”
