Kabel Noord selects Hopling
Technologies for expansion of
Intelligent Hotspots and
Municipal Services
Almere, November 9, 2006 - Hopling Technologies, a fast growing
technology leader in IP-based wireless networking equipment for
enterprises, operators and service providers today announced
that Kabel Noord has selected Hopling
Technologies managed services for further expansion of
intelligent Hotspots and Municipality networks.
Kabel Noord already has installed intelligent Hotspots at several
locations on the islands of Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. The
Hotspots are located around the harbors, at camp grounds and
hotels and are addressing the nomadic user. Anyone with a WiFi
enabled device (desktop, laptop or PDA) has the ability to gain
access to Internet.
“Due
to the fact that we were able to fully outsource the back-office
functions (i.e. network management, access control and billing)
to Hopling Technologies, we could rapidly roll-out the Hotspots
and benefit from a steep growth in usage of the Hotspots,” said
Gijs van Hesteren, Project Leader Broadband of Kabel Noord. “The
success of the installed Hotspots has encouraged us to start
building a large municipality network covering the central part
of the city of Dokkum.”
“The wireless Internet connection in Dokkum will be based on
Hopling Technologies Xnet Mark-I nodes which are high-capacity
mesh nodes with integrated WiFi access points,”
said Aad van Diepen, Vice President Global Services of Hopling
Technologies. "With the planned network Kabel Noord will be able
to deploy a state-of-the-art wireless network without the need
for any additional overhead in its own organization.”
