Hopling Technologies announces WebNet CWN’s Launch of a
Metropolitan Wireless Network in Abbotsford, Canada
using Hopling Technologies Mesh Networking Equipment

Abbotsford, BC, and Almere, the Netherlands, October 9, 2006 - Hopling Technologies, a fast growing technology leader in IP-based wireless networking equipment for enterprises, operators and service providers, and WebNet Converged Wireless Network (WebNet CWN), a leading metropolitan Wi-Fi mesh network developer, today announced High-Speed wireless Internet access availability for Abbotsford, BC, Canada.

Unlike many municipal wireless mesh networks being announced, WebNet CWN works closely with local government officials, but funds the network planning, build out and network management with private investment capital, so there is no risk to taxpayers for building citywide wireless mesh networks that cover entire cities.

Abbotsford is the first city to be announced in WebNet CWN’s plans to become one of the first nationwide wireless carriers in North America. WebNet CWN plans to build wireless mesh networks in 25 Canadian cities, plus an additional 100 markets in the United States, for a total of 125 territories. The wireless network will cover more than 30 million customers and pose a serious threat to 3G carriers nationwide that cannot deliver on their promise to deliver true broadband wireless connections above 1 Mbps.

WebNet CWN’s metropolitan mesh networks provide a bundle of cost-effective wireless services to choose from, including:

  • High-Speed Internet Access Service
  • Voice over IP Telephone Service
  • Video Verified Security Service
  • On Demand IP Television Service
  • IP Mobile Phones (WiFi Cell Phones)

WebNet CWN’s high-speed wireless service enables connections with almost any type of computing device configured with an antenna in an outdoor environment.  Customers that want to receive the wireless Internet connection indoors require a fixed antenna to be mounted on the exterior of their building.

“The deployment of WebNet’s home-town Abbotsford is the first step of a nationwide network we are building across Canada and the United States,” said Gregory C. Carrington, WebNet CWN’s President and CEO. “In addition to the Abbotsford market, we have sold out 12 territories in Canada and should be bringing them online as quickly as possible.  In addition, we are seeking business partners that would like to get involved with the hottest sector in the telecommunications business, metropolitan mesh networks.”

“The deployment of Hopling Technologies’ mesh networking equipment in Abbotsford demonstrates that people, businesses and government agencies want and need seamless wireless covered areas,” said Frank Koopman, chief executive officer at Hopling Technologies.  “Our proven mesh network technology creates a complete IP-based wireless networking solution that enables WebNet CWN to bring applications and services to customers not currently available on today’s wireless and wired networks.”

WebNet CWN has deployed Hopling Technologies wireless routers on strategic locations throughout Abbotsford to form the city’s first metropolitan mesh network that is operated and optimized using Hopling Technologies wireless network management platform, a suite of end-to-end configuration, monitoring and maintenance tools. WebNet CWN is also utilizing Hopling Technologies pre-WiMAX point-to-point radios for high-speed backhaul between the wireless mesh network nodes.
